Summary: I've never owned a desktop PC before just laptops. I was using my wife's laptop and it just got killed by some spyware/virus. So I decided to splurge and get a shiny new desktop. And I haven't looked back ever since. I love it!
For me I think it was a bit of overkill for my uses (email, web surfing, DVD watching, print few pages, scan few pages) - I'm the little old grandma of computing. But I have no regrets. Great box.

Summary: I started off with the Pavillion Elite 9040. I thought there was a defective media card reader in it and took it back. I found this model and it wasn't much more, but it had an improved graphics card and more hard drive. However, I found the same issue with the media reader, so after going through two hours with tech support to fix the issue, (including opening it up and disconnecting the media reader and reconnecting it) finally tech support realized it was conflicting with Vista. There is suppose to be a fix coming, but the techy said don't hold my breath. So oh well, I bought an external media reader and moved on.
The rest of this system is amazing! I didn't realize how much noise I was putting up with from the gateways I've always had. This thing is so quiet I can't believe it. The three gigs of memory make Vista run like a dream too. I run CS3 and Nero 8, both memory hogs, at the same time and have no problems at all.
Over-all one of the best desktops in this price range that I've found. Unless your a serious gamer, this PC will handle anything you throw at it.

Summary: I have had some problems - 1. the wireless keyboard and mouse are basically pieces of junk. I would have much rather had a quality wired keyboard and mouse. or at least just a wired keyboard. The first one i got I had to replace. The keyboard just kept sticking - typing hundreds of letters without me even having my hand on it. it was murder trying ot get a CSR on the "LIve" feed at HP.com support - and when you do get them you know they are talking to 3 other people at the same time which is frustrating when you have to sit three and wait 5 minutes for the response when you only types in an answer to theri question.
They quickly sent me out an entirely new keyboard which arrives in three working days and worked fine. well as fine as it is ever going to. It sporatically misses letters at times and I have already replaced the batteries once in 30 days...THEN i couldnt get the tv tuner to work at all it kept telling me windows could not find a tuner. I sourced the support FAQs and tried everything then did the on line "live" support again... YEs another nightmare waited like 25 minutes till someone responded. again took forever and then had to re-seat the tuner card so i had to contact them again the next day when that didnt work. Ended up they had me try liek 4 differnt things and NOTHING.. they had to send me out a new one. Again it came quickly - about 3 working days. I replaced it and since everything has been fine. so all in all if everything worked the first time this thing would have been outstanding...

Pros: I like the Quad Core CPU,two hard drives, media center, fire wire,HDMI,dual DVD drives, and overall sleek piano black finish. This is a very quiet machine.
Cons: If your a serious gamer, you might have to upgrade the Nvidea 8500 GT card...and that means a new power supply. This can be a chore, but if you like mainstream games & HDTV..this is perfectly fine.
Summary: I got mine as a refurb...$630 no problems at all.I paired it with HP w2207h 22" monitor...wow! everything matches perfectly.Any way you put it...your getting ...

Summary: I feel that this PC is probably one of the best pre-built machines out there. It has a great CPU, enough RAM and all the internal peripherials are SATA. That makes it for one quick system. Optional RAID setup from the board is a plus and a PCIEx16 slot on the MBA is great if you wanna upgrade the Video Card. Good overall for a manufatured PC

Summary: I bought this from Best Buy . I tried to return it after three weeks of trying to get it to work . Did you know Best Buy has a fifteen day return policy on Computers ? HP online help is a joke . After two weeks of trying to get the Digital tuner to work some HP tech advised me to get an HD Television . He said that I needed an HD Television to allow the Digital tuner in my Pavilion computer to work . Does this make sense to you ? Oh , and it can't make Audio CD's . My stereo in my house and my car stereo refuses to play the finalized Audio CD made with the Pavilion . Again , no help from HP . I wish I had bought another PC . Maybe you won't make this mistake .
